A Lenten Message
Taken from "Anecdotes & Scripture Notes" by Rev. John Hillier
Pray. Mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Trust God. Write a letter of love. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Encourage youth. Keep a promise. Find the time. Read Scripture. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Laugh. Go to Mass every day. Appreciate what you have received. Be loyal to your calling. Be nonviolent in your thoughts, words and actions.
Lent is the opportunity to examine and rededicate our lives, to fine tune our relationship with God and others, to turn our backs on what diminishes our relationships, to live as faith-filled disciples of Jesus, to live up to our baptismal calling, to return to the Father's will, and so find that glory for which we were created. Lent, in other words, is another opportunity to "put on the Lord Jesus Christ".(Romans 13:14)
